I am writing this post in the middle of the COVID 19 pandemic. 2020 Summer ended already, and I wanted to share with you the positives of this pandemic, in terms of travel. Does it sound a bit contradictory?

If it had been a regular summer, I supposed we would have been to France for vacations to visit our family, since it has been a year now that we moved to the US. But like many countries, the US put in place a travel ban and we were stuck here for the whole summer. So, I decided to make a list of destinations in the ‘safe’ states to visit: some of them are famous among foreign tourists and others are well known from American travelers, and we did them all!

  1. Bethany Beach, Delaware
  2. Washington, DC
  3. The Hamptons, NY
  4. Boston & Cape Cod, Massachusetts
  5. Newport, Rhode Island
  6. Niagara Falls, NY

In this post, I’ll talk about Bethany Beach, Delaware

I have never heard of Bethany Beach, Delaware when I lived in France. I heard about it from my American coworkers when I used to work in NYC. I am glad I visited this coastal town, quite popular among the upper-middle class. Miles of beaches, perfect waves for surfer – not recommended for low or average swimmer though-, long boardwalks with silly shops or tourist traps, and very decent restaurants, especially for my French demanding culinary tastes. I recommend this destination for families with kids, and with friends. If you are looking for more fun, go to Dewey Beach and join the party scene. Rehoboth is different and reminded me of the Jersey Shore atmosphere….

Where to stay?

Many options for apartment or house rentals, usually in private resorts with pools and tennis court.

What to do?

Enjoy amenities at your resort, beach, boardwalk, mini golf, carting….

The Bethany Beach of France?

Arcachon, la Palmyre…
